Our Story

It all started with a gift...

For FeatureMe co-founder, Taylor, birthdays mean everything. She considers her own birthday a holiday only topped by Christmas. So her partner, Brandon, faces a certain amount of pressure to create a memorable day.

One year, while Taylor faced a demanding college and work schedule, Brandon decided to celebrate her birthday a bit differently. Instead of buying a utilitarian gift that wasn’t all that fun, or a fun gift she’d soon forget about, he wanted to celebrate Taylor as a person. So he wrote a story.

He wrote the story like Taylor had been featured in a newspaper article celebrating her awesome adventures and accomplishments. He included a fake headline and Taylor’s favorite photographs of herself.

When Taylor read the story for the first time tears filled her eyes. She felt important. She felt loved.

She wanted everyone to experience that feeling.

A few years, and a college graduation later, FeatureMe the business was born.

And Taylor and Brandon haven’t forgotten their roots — everyday they stick to their mission of creating a gift far more meaningful than any other: a gift that spreads love.

A message from our founder

Everyone has a story.

The biology professor who turned in his letter of resignation after 50-plus years in the field.

The exhausted student on her graduation day.

The couple that rushed to the courthouse on June 26, 2015, having thought this day would never come.

Their stories inspired me.

When I worked as a journalist, I had to write news briefs on local crime or the goings-on of the court — I held onto these stories as my fodder.

I wrote as many features as I could. Almost every time a person saw their name in print, they reached out to thank me.

I realized then that most people did not understand the significance of their own stories. People go through life without the recognition they deserve.

At FeatureMe, we celebrate people. We put into words what is often too difficult to say out loud.

We want everyone to know their story is important.

Much love,

Taylor

What: A Feature is a magazine-style story that we professionally write for you based on interviews with friends and family. It's designed to look exactly like a story you'd find in a high-quality magazine — including a headline, photographs and compelling quotes about you or the person you wish to feature.

We currently have Feature options for six occasions: birthday, retirement, sports accomplishmentgraduation, wedding/anniversary and new baby.

With all ur packages you work directly with your assigned writer to get the most personalized story of all.

If you want to celebrate a particular occasion that we don't have listed, please purchase the Unique Feature. With the Unique Feature, we can write about any occasion (Valentine's Day, Father's Day, etc.), and this Feature is available through the Custom and Premium options only.

Why: Everyone has a story, and we believe there is no better gift than letting someone know that their story is important. You shouldn't have to sacrifice hours upon hours of your time (or need to be an expert DIYer) to celebrate your loved ones' milestones in a meaningful way.

When: A Feature is perfect for every occasion, whether it be a birthday, retirement, wedding or graduation... Really, the list goes on.

How: After you purchase your Feature, FeatureMe staff interview up to five people of your choosing. From those interviews, our talented team writes your custom story and subsequently designs it to look like one straight out of a glossy magazine. Finally, you receive your hand-crafted Feature in the mail, packaged, framed and ready to hang on the wall.
